Hot Air Ballooning

Sitting in Royal Victoria Park on a summers evening is a pleasure any day of the week, but timing it perfectly to watch the hot air balloons take off makes it special. We like to have a picnic or barbeque, but you can also just sit on the grass and watch the sky.

In Royal Victoria Park the balloons set up and launch in the north-east corner, near the Weston Road entrance. Launch times vary due to weather conditions and the time of year, but mid summer 7-7.30pm is reliable. A range of companies use the park for launching their flights, so avoid disappointment by checking their twitter feed to know launch times (Bath Balloons, Bailey Balloons, Bristol Balloons, Virgin Balloons).

If you are super keen they also do morning take-offs, but be warned they are early at 6.30am.
